We're Moving!

For the past few years our Community Development Coordinator has been feeling very cramped, having one small desk within someone else's office. But the times are changing and we've moved... across the corridor! It may not sound much, but it is a big change for us. We now have our own office, meaning we can do even more for Abbotswood. It's not been easy, we've all been getting mucky with painting, decorating and the occasional bit of DIY, but it will be worth it in the long run.

After a lot of hard work our office space is looking great. Our community drop in service has had a revamp so we can now offer guests computing facilities, access to a wide range of community info, space for a moment of calm, opportunities to lead your own community projects and good old fashioned chit chat over a cuppa. Pop in and see us for all things Abbotswood!

With thanks to Bromford, Dodington Parish Council and Yate Rotary Club.

Community Growing

We have some very busy residents here in Abbotswood, that have been getting green fingered in our allotments. Sadly, some of us aren't quite as mobile and are struggling to get out in the environment as much as we would like. Well get your gardening gloves ready, as we are going to bring the ground up to you! With new funding we will be able to construct some raised beds, that will provide a comfortable perch for doing your sowing, planting, harvesting, and of course... weeding! If you've got some free time to help us, join us at the September Clean Up Day and get building, see you there!

With thanks to South Gloucestershire Council.

Food For Free

To encourage people to get out and make the best of the world around us, we are producing a local foraging map. We're still in the very early stages, so need your help with a bit of research. Get out and get foraging, then share what you've learnt with us. If you can tell us what you've been picking and where, it will make us very happy people... We're also looking for great recipes to use with what you find, so chefs to your ovens please! All tips, big or small, will be gratefully received.
